As well as our annual Camac Festival in France, the early Autumn sees us heading for Switzerland, Italy, Hungary &#8211; and Romania, for the <a href=\"https:\/\/festivaluldeharpabucuresti.ro\/press-release-bucharest-harp-festival-2018\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bucharest Harp Festival 2018<\/a>. We&#8217;re delighted to be the principal sponsors of the third edition of the festival, which is co-organised by the\u00a0National University of Music Bucharest,\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/asociatiaharpistilordinromania.ro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Romanian Harpists Association<\/a>. Celebrating more than 125 years of the harp in Romania in 2018, the festival is free of charge for all who attend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On October 26th, Chantal Mathieu will give the opening recital, with a programme of French and Spanish music (you can get a great taste of this in Chantal&#8217;s fantastic discography &#8211; we love her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.camac-harps.com\/blog\/en\/blog\/latest\/damase-harp-chantal-mathieu-friends\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tournier<\/a> interpretations, her recording of works by Granados, Albeniz and more, and her most recent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.camac-harps.com\/blog\/en\/blog\/latest\/damase-harp-chantal-mathieu-friends\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">all-Damase<\/a> CD). Chantal will be preceded by a Romanian harp ensemble of over twenty lever and pedal harps, performing a special programme arranged for the occasion by\u00a0Mladen Spasinovici.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Day two &#8211; Saturday, October 27th &#8211; will begin with masterclasses with Chantal, and\u00a0Maria B\u00eeldea. There will also be a chance to hear the next generation, in the &#8216;Young Expectations&#8217; concert. Romanian harpists\u00a0Miruna Vidican and Ionela Br\u0103dean will give recitals &#8211; and in the evening, so too will Romania&#8217;s most famous harpist and Founder Director of the Bucharest Harp Festival,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ionivanroncea.ro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ion Ivan-Roncea<\/a>. He will give a very special concert, performing with his daughters\u00a0Ioana Nicolescu (harp), and \u0218tefana Ivan-Roncea (violin).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Sunday, October 28th, Chantal Mathieu will give a lecture: &#8220;Harpa Rediviva&#8221;, which has us all intrigued already. Ferenc\u00a0Papfalvi, our luthier colleague in Hungary, will also give a class, on harp maintenance. The afternoon is another chance to explore Romania&#8217;s wealth of harp talent, and with many national premiers on the programmes. Performers include Iuliana Bolgari,\u00a0Rozalia Pataki,\u00a0duoCell\u2019Arpa\u00a0(Roxana Moi\u0219anu,\u00a0harp, and Mladen Spasinovici,cello), and colleagues\u00a0Rafael Butaru (violin), C\u0103t\u0103lina C\u00eerciu (violin), C\u0103t\u0103lina Filipescu(viola), Iulian Ochescu (piano). The festival&#8217;s closing recital will be given by\u00a0Maria B\u00eeldea, together with Marilena Dori (flute). Born in Bucharest and a former student of Ion Ivan-Roncea&#8217;s class, Maria is now\u00a0Principal Harp with the National Radio Symphony Orchestra of Athens.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, your friendly Camac team will also be in situ with a harp exhibition!
