She mixes\u00a0great covers and original songs, is a wonderful storyteller, and is one of several harpists really putting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.camac-harps.com\/en\/harps-en\/electric\/the-big-blue-47\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blue harp<\/a> on the wider pop and jazz map.<\/p>\n<div class=\"gdpr_opt_in\" data-cc-enable=\"\">\n<div class=\"gdpr_opt_in__inner\">I want to enable video content and agree that data will be loaded from  (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.camac-harps.com\/blog\/en\/news\/london-calling\/\" target=\"_blank\">Privacy Policy<\/a>).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"video_container\">\n<div class=\"video_container__inner\"><iframe title=\"Tara Minton\" width=\"500\" height=\"450\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" alt-src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?visual=true&#038;url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Fusers%2F4324172&#038;show_artwork=true&#038;maxheight=750&#038;maxwidth=500\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tara and her trio\/quartet with have played some of London&#8217;s most iconic venues including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.royalalberthall.com\/about-the-hall\/news\/2017\/march\/q-and-a-we-speak-to-jazz-harpist-tara-minton-ahead-of-her-upcoming-elgar-room-show\/\">The Elgar Room<\/a> at The Royal Albert Hall, The 606, The Pizza Express Soho, Ronnie Scott&#8217;s Upstairs, The Pheasantry, and Brasserie Z\u00e9del. In 2018, she\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FHtRlpmJliY\">appeared with Bj\u00f6rk<\/a> on \u201cLater\u2026 with Jools Holland\u201d, and toured with her to Primavera Sound, Barcelona. This year Tara recorded with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iamtomwalker.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tom Walker<\/a>, British Breakthrough Act winner at the BRIT Awards 2019, and appeared with him on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/IamTomWalker\/videos\/387631455149900\/\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/IamTomWalker\/videos\/387631455149900\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tara has another big gig coming up in London on March 27th, opening for Sara Niemietz and Snuffy Walden at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketweb.uk\/event\/sara-niemietz-wg-snuffy-st-pancras-old-church-tickets\/9109505?REFERRAL_ID=tmfeed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">St Pancras Old Church<\/a>.\u00a0If you&#8217;ve ever watched The West Wing (or Kidnapped, or The Wonder Years), you&#8217;ll have heard Snuffy&#8217;s Emmy award-winning music, and the London date is part of his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.saraniemietz.com\/news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">second European tour<\/a> with Niemietz. If you like <a href=\"http:\/\/postmodernjukebox.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Postmodern Jukebox<\/a> (Walden and Niemietz have <a href=\"http:\/\/postmodernjukebox.com\/post\/vintage-blues-remake-want-want-feat-sara-niemietz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">worked with them too<\/a>), you&#8217;ll like this: vintage tunes in a jazzy, blues-y, American singer-songwriting way.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Their management actually found me on <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/taraminton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SoundCloud<\/a>&#8220;, Tara recalls. &#8220;I didn&#8217;t think anyone really looked at SoundCloud.&#8221; [at this point, Camac AR interjects to say we <em>often<\/em> look at SoundCloud]. &#8220;Yeah, I know you do, but you spend your lives listening to harp music&#8230; it can still be a bit of a musicians&#8217; secret, compared to YouTube anyway&#8221;, Tara goes on. &#8220;But there you go, they found it and emailed me. I&#8217;ll be doing a solo set, mostly <a href=\"http:\/\/taraminton.com.au\/shop-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">from the album<\/a> but I might chuck in a cheeky jazz tune or two as well.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tara is also teaming up with couple of other well-known jazz harpists. On August 26th, she&#8217;ll play a double bill with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bjcg.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ben Creighton Griffiths<\/a>, at gipsy swing \/ manouche venue <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quecumbar.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Le Quecumbar<\/a> in London SW11. Ben has a gipsy jazz band &#8211; The Transatlantic Hot Club &#8211; as does Tara, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harpbazaarmusic.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Harp Bazaar<\/a>. \u00a0After jamming together in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.camac-harps.com\/blog\/en\/news\/cardiff-camac-harp-weekend-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cardiff<\/a>, they therefore decided to organise this double bill as part of Ben&#8217;s UK summer tour.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another summer project for Tara will be a jazz harp weekend in Stockholm with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stinahellbergagback.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stina Hellberg Agback<\/a>. &#8220;Stina and I have become great friends, and were discussing jazz education for the harp. We both find ourselves more in the jazz world than the harp world a lot of the time&#8230;and so we thought, what have we learnt from the jazz world, as sort of undercover harpists, that would be useful for other harpists know about? This will form the basis of our retreat. We&#8217;ll also do a concert, and bring a rhythm section for harpists to work with throughout. A new album! <span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201c<\/span>You&#8217;ll recognise my sound<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201d\u00a0<\/span>says Tara, &#8220;but\u00a0I<span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2019<\/span>ve evolved.
