\"Ev\u00e9lina<\/a>Ev\u00e9lina Simon, who you may already know from her excellent harp-school.com<\/a> or the super tutorials<\/a> she\u2019s made for our Odyssey range<\/a>, has released a new album. Phoenix<\/a> is a double album, with two discs for two different atmospheres. It\u2019s vivacious and reflective by turns, full of love and beautiful colours.<\/p>\n

The first album is \u201cFire\u201d, with Mart\u012b Lafond on drums and Hugo Molka on bass. It\u2019s full of sonic experiments, uptempo and dancing with reggae, pop and world music influences. You can play the second album, \u201cWater\u201d, when you\u2019re feeling like something quieter: Ev\u00e9lina adds the flute to her harp and vocals, and explores the Celtic and folk music sides of her musical universe. \u201cMy compositions bring all sorts of musics together\u201d, explains Ev\u00e9lina, \u201cand I didn\u2019t want to separate them. Equally every album needs its own coherence. That\u2019s why I went for the double album. Also, I worked on it a lot after my twin daughters were born, and our lives became all about what comes in twos\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

On both albums, the harp is the lead instrument and Ev\u00e9line uses its full range, from bass lines to accompanying figurations and solo melodies. Combined with song and beautiful, personal texts, this is a gorgeous summer addition to every curious harpist and harp-lover\u2019s music library!<\/p>\n
