Just before we closed for the festive period, the latest Camac Academy (organised in collaboration with our friend Duoli Wu of Aria Music)\u00a0 took place in Tianjin and Beijing (China).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The professor for this academy was of course the incomparable Isabelle Moretti, and the week of masterclasses and lessons following two eagerly anticipated solo recitals. The first was at the Tianjin Grand Theatre followed by a half-day masterclass with six students of the Juilliard School Tianjin.<\/span><\/p>\n

In each city, audience members also had the chance to interact with Isabelle in an artist\u2019s Question-and-answer session. According to the concert organisers, this was a particularly attractive prospect for younger audience members, and demonstrates the flourishing interest among the next generation of Chinese harp enthusiast and concert goer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Isabelle then left Tianjin for Beijing where, over a period of five days, she worked intensively with 20 students of the Beijing Central Conservatory. In addition to a day-long class for seven students at Mr Ma Jia Jie’s harp studio (\u827a\u542f\u97f3\u60a6). All this accomplished in addition to a solo appearance at the extraordinary Forbidden City Concert hall!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of these masterclasses were streamed live online, perhaps for the first time in the Chinese harp world. We are most grateful to local professors: Wang Guan, Wei LinLin, Shi Qin, Sun Shi Meng, Ma Jia jie , Huang Liya and Du Juan for this opportunity to meet with and enrich the rising generation of Chinese harpists.<\/span><\/p>\n

It should be added that our intrepid President Jakez Fran\u00e7ois regulated a number of instruments in the locale, including travelling to Inner Mongolia and back in a day (!) as well as servicing the harp of the National Center of Performing Arts (NCPA – Beijing Opera).<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
