In this age of digital creativity, where presence and visibility are paramount, this \u2018Spring Fever\u2019 video was born of a simple idea: \u2018To make a recording, to showcase my music, and to generate interest in my work. However, as with all types of content, every artist has to stand out from the crowd if they want to attract attention.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"gdpr_opt_in\" data-cc-enable=\"youtube\">\n<div class=\"gdpr_opt_in__inner\">I want to enable video content and agree that data will be loaded from Google (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.camac-harps.com\/blog\/en\/news\/points-of-difference-cecile-gravot-and-spring-fever\/\" target=\"_blank\">Privacy Policy<\/a>).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"video_container\">\n<div class=\"video_container__inner\"><iframe title=\"SPRING FEVER - C\u00e9cile Gravot\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" alt-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/v780IS-k_QE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C\u00e9cile Gravot has never been afraid to stand out from the crowd! A native of Nantes, after winning a gold medal at the Nantes Conservatoire in 1995, she turned her attention to contemporary music. She was a member of the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre des Cerises troupe for many years, where she co-composed and performed in original operas. She later joined the folk project After the Bees. The group won several awards, including the 2016 SNCF M\u00e9c\u00e8nes pour la Musique prize for its Let&#8217;s Rise! Project. C\u00e9cile then worked on \u2018Les actes romantiques\u2019, which combines choreographed music with urban and natural scenography.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For her new solo project, C\u00e9cile was attracted by the idea of a harpist playing two harps simultaneously. But over and above the visual interest this generates, it was musical and sonic considerations that motivated her. C\u00e9cile owns and plays two Camac harps, a pedal harp and a DHC36 electric harp with gut strings:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018The classical harp has a fast, direct attack,\u2019 explains C\u00e9cile. \u2018With gut strings in the treble and metal strings in the bass, these are two very different worlds of sound [&#8230;], and playing incisively on electric instruments can be challenging.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both sonorities were sought after, but how can we combine the two: the crystalline sound of the high strings in the right hand and the edgy character of the metal in the bass? This difference led C\u00e9cile to play two harps simultaneously to obtain this \u2018augmented harp\u2019 (C\u00e9cile&#8217;s terminology).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We asked C\u00e9cile what the challenges of this project were (apart from playing two harps at the same time!): \u2018Well, actually, finding the time,\u2019 laughs C\u00e9cile. \u2018On a more serious note, the most complex part of the project was the audio-visual set-up required to film two such different harps in their best light and to isolate the sound so that it could be successfully integrated into the video montages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018It was a real learning curve,\u2019 adds C\u00e9cile, \u2019but I found the specific sound I was looking for, and I think the two blend very well.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The result is quite astonishing.
