The<\/span> Seventh International Harp Competition, Szeged<\/span><\/a>, has announced its programme! This much-loved competition was founded by Natalia Gorbunova in 2007, and her daughter Anastasia Razvalyaeva took over as Artistic Director in 2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All competitions are full of uncertainty, but if you go for Szeged you can certainly be sure of a warm welcome, lovely and useful set works, and a beautiful setting in Szeged’s Re\u00f6k Palace.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

There are three competition categories: 14 and under, 19 and under and 25 and under, and the competition always celebrates a Hungarian composer and a major harp repertoire composer. For the seventh edition, the event will celebrate two significant anniversaries: the 150th anniversary of the births of Henriette Reni\u00e9 and Maurice Ravel (both born in 1875), and the 50th anniversary of the passing of Marcel Grandjany (who died in 1975).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To support Hungarian composers, the 14 and under program requires a performance of \u00c1kos Zar\u00e1ndy\u2019s Leaves (2023). In a similar vein, the 19 and under category requires applicants to prepare M\u00e1rton Levente Horv\u00e1th\u2019s Versets for an Imaginary Vespers (2023).<\/p>\n

You’ll also find the entry form, including upload details for the video preliminary round. The closing date for applications is <\/span>September 15th, 2025.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
