Aur\u00e9lie Barb\u00e9<\/a> is a long-time friend of Camac; in fact, she recently lent her musical creations to the series of videos we created to introduce you to our new and improved manufacturing workshops. Aur\u00e9lie is a versatile harpist and composer, a gold medalist of the CRR de Caen, and a graduate of the Sorbonne in Paris.<\/span><\/p>\n

She has performed and composed with various groups, including <\/span>Naccara<\/span><\/i> (6 harps, double bass, and percussion), the electro-pop group <\/span>Avallon<\/span><\/i>, and has collaborated with musicians such as violinist Damien Michelozzi. She has explored a wealth of musical genres, from contemporary, minimalist, and electro-acoustic music, and has released the album ‘Terralone’ and her 2024 EP ‘Clameurs’.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Aur\u00e9lie Barb\u00e9 is a member of the association \u201cLes signes de l’arc,\u201d<\/a> which works to disseminate and promote contemporary music for harp. She is constantly innovating with her electric harp and enjoys sharing and passing on the fruits of her explorations.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this vein, in 2020, she was awarded the prestigious Gis\u00e8le Tissier-Grandpierre Foundation Award.<\/a> The foundation’s support has enabled Aur\u00e9lie to realise a series of video interviews in which she explores the work of her fellow electro-harpists:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI noticed harpists’ interest in the electric harp and the many questions they had, so I wanted to provide some answers by interviewing artists I admire who have embraced the electric harp in different ways. <\/span><\/i>Aur\u00e9lie says,<\/span> \u201c We discuss technical aspects (amplification and effects pedals) as well as aesthetic and musical issues.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Each interview, beautifully filmed and realised by Aur\u00e9lie, is based around the work of an individual electric harpist. In the course of the series so far, she has explored the work of some of the electric harpists she most admires, yet tit represents an incredibly diverse group of artists:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe first musician I interviewed was H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Breschand<\/a>, a multi-talented artist (composer, improviser, performer…) whom I greatly admire. Next, I had the pleasure of meeting Rafaelle Rinaudo (who is a massive hit with her band Nout!) and Milla Leika (a singer, harpist and composer who plays two harps on stage).\u201d<\/a><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
