Janet Harbison is a legend: born in Dublin, raised in classical and traditional Irish music, she began her musical training on the piano at the age of four, then switched to the harp at thirteen. After studying classical music at Trinity College and the University of Cork, her career as a harpist took off after winning all the major Irish harp competitions and several international prizes between 1979 and 1981.
Among her greatest achievements is undoubtedly the creation of the Belfast Harp Orchestra, an innovative ensemble of young harpists from both communities in Northern Ireland, founded in 1992 and which, a year later, won a Grammy Award for a historic collaboration with The Chieftains. After establishing the Irish Harp Centre in Limerick in 2002, she returned to Northern Ireland in 2016 as a visiting professor of music at the University of Ulster.
Here’s your chance to meet this icon of Irish harp music during a memorable evening of music and tradition that is not to be missed!
With the kind participation of Delphine Coudray (harp).

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the Espace Camac on Friday, 30 January for a rich musical encounter, drawing on the historical roots of Breton and Irish musical cultures.
Irish immigration to Brittany is a significant historical chapter that has been largely forgotten, yet traces of it can still be found in modern day Breton surnames. Tens of thousands of Irish people emigrated to Brittany during the 17th and 18th centuries, fleeing persecution by the English.
Four musicians retrace this history in an immersive show, imagining the union of two musical aesthetics as the result of a meeting of two distinctive cultures: that of the Irish people with the Breton people. Les irlandais de Bretagne (The Irish of Brittany) follows historical and creative threads, bringing together and sometimes merging traditional songs, melodies and dances from Brittany and Ireland. A captivating blend of stories, anecdotes and music, both joyful and moving.
Kevin Le Pennec – Lever harp
Véronique Bourjot – Vocals
Brewen Favrau – Flutes / Uilleann pipes / Biniou
Soazig Hamelin – Violin
