  • The virtues and principles of the French school of harp-playing remain world famous; a byword for excellence at the harp. Therefore, we take great pride in supporting our friends at the Hong Kong Harp Chamber, as they present two of France’s greatest harpists, Isabelle Moretti and Mélanie Laurent. This will take the form of  a week-long Camac academy, wherein these two supreme artists will work with students both in masterclasses and in private lessons; they will share their expertise based on years of precious experience.

This week of inspirational teaching will be crowned with a concert, a chance to experience these musicians in practice, under the banner of the prestigious ‘French May’ Arts Festival. This recital will be preceded by a chance to discover more about French harp artistry, with a lecture on the history of French harp making with Jakez François.

We urge you to get in touch with the Hong Kong Harp Chamber in order to reserve your place for this unmissable opportunity.

  • Since 1984, the Rencontres Internationales de Harpes Celtiques have been a showcase for everything that concerns the small harp. The event brings together both professional and amateur harpists, instrument makers, trainees and teachers to build a festival that is unique unto itself.

The festival celebrates every phase of harp creation in all its diversity, and there is room for everybody here, regardless of fame or status. The festival bears the worthy motto, “tradition & creation”, two principles which harmonise perfectly with the ethos of Camac.

As such, we are delighted to have a strong presence at the festival, where our instruments can be tried and played upon by all comers.  Aside from our exhibition, this season’s guest stars include Tristan le Govic and Arianna Savall.

For information and tickets, and to discover the entire programme on offer, please visit the festival website.

We look forward to seeing you there!

  • We are delighted to share details of the Rave Harps International Prestige Award 2023 (Chamber Music). This terrific enterprise gives  young pedal and lever harpists the opportunity to perform and compete in a wide range of combinations, and demonstrate the importance of making music in the ensemble context. For audiences this will be an opportunity both to experience some first-rate performances and to support a new generation of harpists.

This will culminate in a fabulous winner’s concert under the rather thrilling banner of ‘Harp Rumba’, where the winners of each section will share their repertoire with the public.

This will be followed by an eclectic mix of Latin-themed music performed by the International Harp Orchestra led by Artistic Director Katryna Tan. The acclaimed harpist Mieko Inoue (Japan) will appear as a guest performer.

Tickets for both exciting events are available here.

  • The Festival interceltique de Lorient takes place annually, and is one of the most important events of its kind. A completely multidisciplinary event, the richness of Celtic music, dance as well as all manner of traditional artists and artisans are celebrated in a convivial atmosphere.

As one of the most revered instruments of Celtic culture, the harp is at the heart of the event, and as the festival reaches its height, we have enormous pride in presenting the Camac Celtic Harp Trophy.

The grand prize is a magnificent Camac Aziliz Harp, in addition to numerous cash prizes. The festival is open to all Celtic harpists, without age limit.  Click here to download competition regulations and full details of how to enter.

  • The second Helsinki harp festival is part of a flowering of such festivals in the Scandinavian region. The theme of this year’s festival is wellbeing, with sound healing performances, movement and pilates lessons, and ergonomic coaching by physiotherapists aimed at harpists of all levels.

There will be performances and masterclasses among more traditional lines, including such artists as Isabelle Perrin and Sivan Magen. The festival will also host the live rounds of both the Helsinki Harp competition and the Lily Kajanus-Blenner competition. The latter memorialises the great Finnish harpist and showcases Finnish harpists aged 15-19 years.

If the theme of the festival is ‘wellness’ then our local clients can attend to the wellbeing of their harps! Our technician will be in attendance to offer free regulation of Camac harps, as well as an exhibit of our harps for your approbation.

For more information, please visit the festival website. To ask about a regulation for your Camac harp, please contact [email protected]

    31 August- 3 September 2023: 2nd Helsinki Harp Festival
  • There will be two opportunities to hear our friend and acclaimed harpist Katryna Tan in concert this September, in both Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

Katryna is a vital force for the harp in South East Asia, not only as a player but as an organiser of creative harp projects, perhaps the most notable of which is her directorship of the Rave harps ensemble initiative.

In a poetic salutation to the arrival of spring, the programme will feature beloved classics of the harp repertoire as well as nanyang-influenced repertoire in solo, chamber and ensemble numbers.

In the first rendition of this exquisite programme, at The Gardens Theatre, Kuala Lumpur (8 September, 19h30) Katryna will be joined by members of  Rave Harps KL, Cempaka Harp Ensemble and The Music Stage.

In the second, at Penang’s Eastern & Oriental Ballroom (10 September, 15h30), Katryna will welcome  budding young harpists from Penang Rave Harpers, and guest harpists Su Yoong & Jia Hui Loh to perform alongside her.

Join them as they evoke the perfumed breezes of spring with a symphony of harps!

Visit Ms. Tan’s website for further information.

  • As summer fades into the freshness of early Autumn, we will be heading to the beautiful town of Lübeck for a weekend of classes, lessons and workshops with two outstanding harpists. In the magnificent surroundings of this ancient Hanseatic city, a town of magnificent spires, tile roofs and imposing churches,  harpists can come and hone their skills under Professors Gesine Dreyer and Manja Smits.

Gesine Dreyer has been harpist  at Opera Houses of Kiel and Frankfurt as well freelancing with the major German orchestras. Alongside her work in the orchestra, she has taught in the music academies of Hamburg, Berlin (Hans Eisler) and  Lübeck. Manja Smits became the first harpist to receive the Netherlands Music Prize, and studied with such legendary harpists as Vera Dulova and Pierre Jamet. She will be sharing her combined passions for education (she is professor of the conservatoires of Groningen and Zwolle) and repertoire of all kinds.

There will of course be an exhibition of our magnificent harps, available to try and play throughout the duration of the course.

If you wish to participate in the classes or workshops, please send an email by 15 August 2023 to [email protected]
