  • Anneleen Lenaerts will soon release her latest disc – Nino Rota : Works for Harps (Warner Classics). You can get your hands on a pre-release copy on March 21st, 16:00 – 17:30 at L’Espace Camac Paris, and have it signed by Anneleen herself!

The first twenty reservations will receive a copy of this beautiful new CD with our compliments.

To register, please contact Sébastien Lehec and Olivier Galeraud at l’Espace Camac Paris.

Anneleen is in Paris because she is also giving a trio concert in the Auditorium du Louvre, with colleagues Adam Walker (flute) and Timothy Ridout (viola). This will take place at 1230 on March 21st, the same day as our disc signing. L’Espace Camac is delighted to send an instrument for Anneleen for her concert, and because of this support we also have four tickets to give away! This is a superb opportunity to experience a classic Debussy trio programme, performed by some of its finest exponents in the world.

  • On March 23rd – 24th, we’ll be returning to Switzerland, for another great project with Elise Estavoyer and her association Harpes en Coeur.

On Saturday, March 23rd at 10AM in Aire-la-Ville, Tristan Le Govic will present the Camac DHC electric harp. Everybody is welcome, in an open and relaxed session with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Our international sales manager Thomas Pontoizeau will also be in Aire-la-Ville throughout the weekend with an exhibition.

Prior to this, it should be noted that Tristan – who will have been in Switzerland all week, working on the new arrangement with Elise’s students – will hold a session on the electric harp exclusively for Swiss harp teachers. Please contact Julie Campiche to register.

On Sunday, March 24th, the Tristan Le Govic Trio, and members of Harpes en Coeur, will perform at the Salle communale d’Onex, with the concert starting at 5PM. Tristan and his colleagues Tangi le Henanff (bass) and Alan Quéré-Moysan (drums) have recently been awarded the Trophée Fest-Noz « Nevez Flamm » 2018. This will come as no surprise to anyone already familiar with their groovy, dancing take on Breton music – and if you haven’t already experienced it, here’s a perfect chance to do so!

  • We are pleased to be supporting the Second “Glowing Harp” International Competition, which will take place in Kharkiv in April of this year. The brainchild of Larisa Klievtsova and Veronika Lemishenko, Glowing Harp began thanks to the support of Valeriy Altuknov, the director of Kharkiv High Music School, and Yuri Yanko, director and chief conductor of the Kharkiv State Philharmonic. The first open harp competition took place in 2006, and in 2017, the competition went international for the first time.

There are categories for both solo and harp duo, from beginners to 25 and under. Thanks to the partnership of the Kharkiv State Philharmonic, the competitions are a particularly good way to gain concerto experience: the final stages of the solo <14, <18 and >25 are all with orchestra or chamber orchestra.

Full information – repertoire, rules, logistics and application details – is available on the competition website. It’s not the first time Camac has been to the Ukraine: we had a fascinating visit to the First Ukrainian International Harp Conference in 2009, and are looking forward to our return, this time to Kharkiv, in April.

  • The long-established national competitions in London will take place, as ever, on the UK May bank holiday weekend: Sunday, May 5th and Monday, May 6th at North Bank House. We’re delighted to be welcoming Stephen Fitzpatrick and Emma Ramsdale to be our illustrious jury members. Stephen, British in origin, is now Principal Harpist at the Berlin Staatskapelle under Daniel Barenboim, and is also Professor of Harp at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Emma is an ABRSM diploma examiner, and has taught at Junior Guildhall and many schools during her teaching career, while also pursuing a busy performing schedule.

North London offers competitions for every age and stage, from grade 1 (ABRSM / Trinity syllabuses), to young professional. There are also the increasingly popular junior and senior chamber music classes. The Camac Harp Competition is open to pedal harpists of conservatoire standard and beyond, studying or resident in the UK / Republic of Ireland and aged up to 30.

We are very pleased that once again we can offer a great professional opportunity to the laureate of this competition, in the form of a paid lunchtime recital at the Proms at St Jude’s. Candidates should therefore be available for the scheduled concert date of Friday, June 21st 2019, at lunchtime in London NW11).

Registration is via the online form of the North London festival, which will be activated early in 2019. Meanwhile, you can prepare your programmes using the information in the competition flyer, and register your interest using this form. We will then let you know once registrations are open!

Closing date for applications: Monday, April 1st 2019

  • Held in Serbia every two years, this long-running contest is a fixture of the Balkan harp calendar – and also those of other instruments. Petar Konjović is one of Serbia’s most distinguished twentieth-century musicians, and this extensive competition has been held in his honour, by the Association of Music and Ballet Pedagogues of Serbia, since 1991. It is a great opportunity for students, with broad range of categories from young beginners, to professionals under the age of twenty-five.

We have supported the harp section for over a decade, and the great artistic direction and organisational work of  Staša Mirković-Grujić. She has now passed on the baton to Mina Momčilović, who is your new point of contact for 2019.

We have summarised the competition information in English here. Closing date for applications is March 30, 2019.

  • Dasson An Delenn is our competition dedicated to the lever harp in Brittany. 2019’s edition will take place on June 8th and 9th, at the Brest Conservatoire. The competition is open to harpists aged under 21, of any nationality. Candidates will perform a (public) programme inspired by Breton music, be this original music, or arrangements. The competition hopes to offer students and teachers a supportive and enjoyable weekend in the service of the lever harp, and with plenty of opportunity to meet each other, exchange ideas and make friends.

We would like warmly to thank the directors and staff of the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Brest métropole, the Town of Brest, the civic authorities of the Finistère region, the DRAC of Brittany, and our partners Savarez and Galli strings, for their support for our initiative.

Non-French speakers can see our English summary of the competition on the blog, or contact Camac Artist Relations for support.
